And when the effect has been achieved, it seems like it&#8217;s the most normal thing to wear as jewellery.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For example, skulls and bones were the domain of cannibalistic tribes &#8211; or in a more contemporary setting, of Harley Davidson-riding road hogs &#8211; until Alexander McQueen and Zadig &amp; Voltaire turned them into a trendy motif.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Is marble the new skull? We don&#8217;t know yet, but a major jewellery brand such as Bvlgari, or a well-known European sculptor like <a href="http://www.lamodadubai.com/2011/07/cenerentola-the-marble-shoe-sculpture/" target="_blank">Emanuele Rubini (of the Cenerentola marble shoe fame) </a>using it as a material to craft accessories might be a good indication. Either way, it&#8217;s a good thing to get in on it before all knock-offs end up in secret warehouses in Karama.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Bvlgari has unveiled three new additions to its must-have casual jewellery line, the B.zero1, with three earthy shades of marble -green bowenite, lapis blue, tobacco brown &#8211; sandwiched into a ring by 18k rose gold. With these new pieces, the luxury brand goes back to its founder Sotirio Voulgaris&#8217; Greek roots and makes use of the same alluring beauty of marble that had fascinated ancient Greek society from the 5th century BC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, Italian marble sculptor Emanuele Rubini concurrently announced his Black Heart necklace, a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse and her hit album <em>Back to Black. </em>It&#8217;s a bit of a hazard, though, even for adults, because the piece is a bit pointy and could really actually be used to give someone a bleeding heart.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><em>*The new B.zero1 ring in marble will be available in all Bulgari shops in the UAE at The Dubai Mall, Emirates Towers Boulevard, Mall of the Emirates and Marina Mall Abu Dhabi, and in Bahrain at Al A’ali Mall.</em></p>

Here&#8217;s something to consider: Jimmy Choo has launched its Choo 24:7 Stylemakers microsite, and it&#8217;s inviting you to submit your photography for a chance to up your fash cred.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">What is it exactly? In a nutshell, Choo 24:7 Stylemakers is an interactive site that celebrates street style photographic reportage with an image gallery showcasing fans wearing Jimmy Choo across time zones, day to evening, 24:7. If you think your standout style is going to attract eyeballs the world over, then submit your best shots; selected images will be uploaded onto the site for all of the fashion world to see.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-16448" title="" src="http://www.lamodadubai.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/caroline-issa-choo-247-stylemakers-website.jpg" alt="" width="275" height="511" />The site responds to the growing interest in street style photography and the social aspect of sharing fashion and style imagery. Users will be able to create their own Stylemaker photo galleries on the microsite and post images direct from Facebook or from personal digital photo albums.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Stylemaker photo galleries on the Choo247.com microsite may then be shared via social media. Photos tagged on Instagram with #choo247 will also feed to the site.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To launch the program, Jimmy Choo has collaborated with renowned street style photographer, Eddie Newton of www.mrnewton.net fame.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Newton has photographed stylemakers exclusively for the choo247.com – his subjects for Jimmy Choo are frequent faces of street style photography – Caroline Issa (pictured left) in London and Jessica Joffe in New York.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">New headline Stylemakers will be added each season in different cities around the globe throughout 2012/13; scouts will soon scour the cities of Milan, Antwerp, Paris, Los Angeles and Tokyo for new ambassadors of the program. They should include Dubai in their itinerary, no?</p>

Last Summer, we reported on <a href="http://www.lamodadubai.com/2011/07/bvlgari-le-gemme-sunglasses-40000/" target="_blank">Bvlgari&#8217;s Le Gemme sunglasses</a> collection, deemed to be some of priciest shades in the world, starting at $44,000 or a little over AED 160,000.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">No more than 12 months later, that record was broken and snatched by Swiss luxury house Chopard for the Jewel Sunglasses, which are now scheduled to launch at Paris Gallery next week. Produced for Chopard by De Rigo Vision, the sunnies are embellished on the face with a total of 51 full-cut River diamonds equal to 4 carats and trimmed in the temples with 60 grams of 24K gold.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The diamonds are set by using a special technique so that the stones are set more closely together than with the classic pavé setting. By being placed this way, the stones create a carpet that lets out a special light.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">No news on the exact UAE retail price yet, but if it&#8217;s supposed to be the world&#8217;s most expensive, it should carry a price tag heftier than Bvlgari&#8217;s $44,000. So, who&#8217;s getting ready to protect their eyes this Summer with luxury sunglasses that packs a whole lot of sparkle?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="first-child " style="text-align: justify;"><span title="P" class="cap"><span>P</span></span>hilippe Starck, the French designer who&#8217;s dipped his toes in creatively penning everything from watches to interiors, unveiled a set of headphone this year in collaboration with Parrot USA &#8211; and they&#8217;re hitting the shelves at Dubai retailers this week.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As with most of Starck&#8217;s work, the headphones feature a sleek silhouette that would make Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy fame think twice about calling himself a designer. Some people brand Starck as a has-been, but his creations continue to resonate with people who have good, restrained taste.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Others say out of mode, we say chicly understated. Besides, these are headphones, how creative can anyone get? We&#8217;d expect names like <a href="http://www.highsnobiety.com/news/2011/02/15/jeremy-scott-x-swatch-watch-collection/" target="_blank">Jeremy Scott</a> to attach a golden wing to each ear, but that&#8217;s him.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On to the techie side, the headphones include a capacitive touch panel controlled by intuitive gestures: swiping upwards increases the volume while swiping downwards lowers it; swiping forward or backwards navigates through the track list. That&#8217;s perfect control without necessitating a single button for operation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The earphones also support Near Field Communication (NFC), a new radio frequency technology that allows seamless connection between devices. This feature lets mobile phones connect to the Starck-designed piece, which can then be used for either streaming music wirelessly or for making crystal-clear phone calls.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">By the way, the headphones detect jaw movement, and will adjust their acoustics once they think you&#8217;re trying to have a conversation over the phone. The earphones also know whether you&#8217;re wearing and using them, as opposed to hanging them around the neck like some weird, not-funny-at-all choker, and switch Bluetooth connection to mobile devices on or off depending on how you wear them.</p>

With the expansion of our retail offer, Mall of the Emirates is also positioned for growth through the introduction of new, unique shopping, dining and leisure experiences for visitors,” said Fuad Sharaf, Senior Asset Director, Asset Management, Shopping Malls.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">People with thicker pockets may choose for the Vertu Constellation here or the Versace phone there, but it&#8217;s mostly been a battle between hipster Steve Jobs worshippers and CrackBerry addicts. But Tag Heuer is promising to offer up a neat little package the fuses sport, luxury and technology to the small subset of established men (or yuppies with rich parents) who&#8217;d be interested in an alternative, yet non-compromising mobile, with the new Racer phone.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Inspired by GT sports cars and luxury jets, the Racer claims to &#8220;drive into a [sic] next generation telephony&#8221; with an aerodynamic smartphone built &#8220;from the most advanced materials in aeronautics.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Obviously, the design is solid, with a sporty aesthetic that is sure to appeal to Tag Heuer timepiece wearers, but we&#8217;re just not sure where aerodynamics comes into play &#8211; it&#8217;s not like the phone is going to be moving fast that it will need to reduce the drag coefficient to function properly &#8211; but perhaps we&#8217;re nitpicking.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Like every Tag Heuer product, the Racer boasts of leading-edge design and handcrafted workmanship. Lightweight components and shockproof construction, its composite materials — titanium grade 2, light and strong carbon fiber, black PVD, 316L stainless steel, rubber — were first used in professional motor-sports and aeronautics. A full-carbon model and an 18K rose gold variant are also available, if the first combo of high-tech materials aren&#8217;t up your alley.</p>
