Here’s a piece of local-designer-goes-to-tinsel-town news: Ukrainian pop star Mika Newton wore AIISHA (by Dubai fashion fixture Aiisha Ramadan) at the Golden Globe Awards 2012 on Sunday night.

Donning a floor-length, lacy nude-lined number, Newton’s look is making rounds on Golden Globes best-dressed lists on various fashion sites on the web. The star was also reportedly complimented by Angelina Jolie on her dress, who personally came up to Newton and asked about the Dubai-sourced frock.

Over the past year, the AIISHA label has taken a more international approach to marketing its creations and has been becoming remarkably more visible in Hollywood. Most recently, Aiisha dressed movie actress Brittany Snow for an editorial shoot in Zooey Magazine and 90210 star Tiffany Hines at the Youth Rock Awards.
