Esmod’s Future show envisages 2040 fashion
Esmod Dubai, the only French institute fully dedicated to fashion in the region, gave audiences a glimpse of what the fashion world could become decades from now during its ‘The Future’ show held last week.
The pageantry of 60 experimental creations under 60 novel collections from Esmod’s 1st to 3rd year students served as the institute’s main Christmas-season event. The showpieces covered themes such as ‘nuclear power,’ ‘explosion’ and ‘uniforms’ and reflected the designers’ unique take on what fashion will look like in the year 2040. Guests were treated to a wide range of apparel, from waistcoats and corsets to uniforms to extravagant dresses, all designed and made by Esmod Dubai’s young fashionistas.

“We immersed our students in volume workshops and gave them inspiring themes to ensure that they come up with an exciting lineup this year. Audiences were definitely impressed by the diversity and unique use of shapes, volumes and colors and how our students translated them into dramatic fashion statements. The future looks good in the capable and energetic hands of our aspiring designers,” said Tamara Hostal, Director and Founder of Esmod Dubai.
Esmod Dubai offers a comprehensive three-year Fashion Design and Pattern Making Diploma Course which teaches basic techniques in preparation for higher-level design (First Year); introduces various products and collections to encourage creativity (Second Year); and guides the choice of specialization as well as the building of personal collections (Third Year). All subjects are conducted in English by internationally recognized professionals of the fashion industry. The course’s latest batch will commence on January 29, 2012.
Esmod Dubai is the local campus of Esmod International, which was established in Paris in 1841 by the French tailor, inventor, and innovator Alexis Lavigne. Esmod is recognised as the first institution to codify couture by inventing tools still being used by today’s designers, such as the bust mannequin and the soft metric ribbon.
