Last Tuesday saw Dubai’s fashion elite descend on Boutique 1′s Jumeirah Beach Residence branch to welcome the launch of Lucy in Disguise, British pop star Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen’s vintage-inspired clothing line.

More than yet another launch of another brand to enter the UAE market, the event was fashion showcase in its own right, with attendees dressing up in this season’s hottest styles from David Koma (celebrity stylist Iman Pasha might as well be a paid endorser of this avant-garde British designer), Lanvin, Ayesha Depala, Pucci and Missoni.

A number of editors from local entertainment publications have reported a bit of a diva attitude coming from Ms. Allen (see tabloid! editor Natalie Long’s piece here ^[2]), who is said to have spent more time hanging out in the bathroom than socializing with guests, but anyone who wanted to see the singer and former Chanel model in the flesh would have expected that already, at least on some level.
